Gold Award Proposal

They Have The Final Say

Today I have finally written my proposal and I have sent it to my Girl Scout Council.
All there is left to do is cross my fingers and hope that they accept it! I heard that it could take up to two months. Ugh! Hopefully it doesn't take that long.

I have actually started some of my project though, but not a whole lot. All I have done so far is gain the approvals I needed from my community partners. My community partners are the Community Garden's PAR (Plant A Row) Team, the plot director, and MACAA. My project has been approved by them and I actually have my own plot to tend to. Now all I need is the approval from council and to schedule my time to set some time aside to work in the garden.

The PAR Team at the community garden is a group of local gardeners that volunteer their time to grow vegetables for MACAA. With their help I will be able to learn the gardening skills I need to succeed and my advisor who is very knowledgable about MACAA will be able to guide me through the ropes of the organization.

I should also apologize for not posting in literally an entire year. This year was not really eventful in the Girl Scout department. Just the usual Girl Scout events such as World Thinking Day, Girl Scout candy sales, and cookie sale. However we did have a absolutely horrible camping trip that was just a complete disaster so I do not really want to talk about it.

I guess I should tell you my 15 second pitch that I was supposed to write to council about my project for those of you who have forgotten what this blog was even supposed to be for:

I hope to provide an abundance of health foods to MACAA for people who have insufficient funds to provide for themselves or their families by caring for a garden plot at my community garden. I also plan to teach the younger Girl Scouts gardening skills using my garden plot as an example so that they can use those skills in the future to grow their own garden to feed themselves or to help their community as well.

Well there you go! If you have any comments or questions feel free to express your opinions!
